Under the Institutional Cooperation of Universities between Vietnam National University of Agriculture and Inter-university council of Francophone (herein after called the 2016-2018 Vietnam-Belgium project) with the funding of ARES–CCD, on December 7, 2018, the Conference on "Technological applications in Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Development" was held at the Conference Hall C, Vietnam National University of Agriculture.

Participating in the Conference were the Chairman of VNUA’s Board of Trustees, Prof. Dr. Tran Duc Vien, Vice President of Hue University of Agriculture and Forestry, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Dinh Phung, Vice President of Bac Giang Agriculture and Forestry University, Dr. Doan Van Soan, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine of the Tay Nguyen University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Quang Hanh, as well as scientists from different universities and research institutes, project leaders and members of research projects funded by the 2016-2018 Vietnam-Belgium project, and VNUA students.

Delivering a speech at the Conference, Prof. Dr. Tran Duc Vien, stated that Vietnam needs to take advantages of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, employ and apply new and modern technologies in the world in agriculture sector. He emphasized that, this Conference was a precious opportunity for project leaders and members of the 2016-2018 Vietnam-Belgium project to present their research findings, and connect with other specialists, research institutes and educational organizations to initiate new research projects and promote technological applications into practice in order to stimulate sustainable agriculture and rural development of Vietnam.
